Painting doors, windows and walls - London Painters
With painted walls - the London Painters will wash down as for woodworks to remove all grease and dirt. If gloss paint has been used previously - the decorator will key the surface using wet and dry sandpaper and filling in the cracks and holes in the plaster. Painting doors requires to remove handles , keyhole plates, finger plates, etc to give the painter an uninterrupted surface. Painting window frames requires to remove all flaking paintwork to ensure the finished surface is as good as the rest. Flaking and general deterioration are caused by moisture from condensation running down and mixing with dust that collects on the frame. The painter - decorator will prime bare wood using undercoat. When painting hinges, we will clean out the newly painted screw slots with a screwdriver before the paint has started to dry. For woodwork, our painters and decorator will make General Preparation by washing down the surface using sugar soap or a proprietary paint cleaner. Then we will fill in the cracks or holes using wood filler. In order to make a good key for the new paint , the painters will lightly rub down the old paint - gloss, etc . Sometimes sanding between the paint coats is necessary and the decorator will rub the woodwork with the grain.
