BITUMEN FELT-FLAT ROOF Normal finish is blackish in colour,and fairly smooth, but coloured finishes are available. It provides little contribution to the thermal insulation of a roof,but that can be improved by using insulation(cold/warm roof). Built-up roofing consists of three layers of bitumen felt laid ,to give a life of upwards of eight years.* It is a cheap way to build a roof,in terms of material cost and labour.
TILE-CLAY Roof,TILE-Concrete and SLATES-PITCHED Roof,LEAN to Roof,etc Range of smooth,sand-faced and colour glazed. Natural colours include wide range of browns.Glazed colours include green and blue. The tiles have an excellent durability and gives the building itself a very solid look.Some types of tiles are recomended to be used in combination with a Breathable membrane as underlay.
BLOCKS,BRICKS-Walls,Cavity walls,Single Leaf walls,etc All the external walls of new buildings and this includes windows and doors, must meet with the stringent Building Regulation requirements before approval will be given. Cavity wall construction,which has been designed to provide protection from damp penetration/sound and reduce heat loss from the building, consists of a decorative outer wall ,a cavity filled with an insulator,and an internal wall. (brick wall/insulation/block wall) A less expensive combination is (block wall/insulation/block wall)
DOUBLE GLAZING,ROOF WINDOWS There are two types of double-glazed windows units: primary and secondary double glazing. Primary double glazing is where two panes of glass are hermetically sealed together with a clear gap between them to form a 'sealed unit' which is then fitted into the rebated frame as a unit. Secondary double glazing is where the existing window has a separate and indepedent pane of glass fitted over it. K-glass,E-low glass,Pilkington glass, self-cleanning glass. Most frames comes with added extra security such as multi-lock systems,toughened glass, etc. There is a wide range of frames and panels designes available.
